Antoinette Choate will be speaking today on employment law (focusing on employee rights) in honor of Law Week at a Chicago Public Library. The program is designed to offer free legal information on today’s hot legal issues. The Law at the Library program is designed to offer free legal information on today’s hot legal issues. Each Law at the Library program features a presentation by an experienced attorney, followed by a brief question-and-answer session. Antoinette Choate will be speaking at a panel at the 12th Annual 7th Circuit Conference. The panel will be addressing how to better conduct electronic discovery. The contenting legal education seminar will take place on February 18, 2013 at Kent Law School in Chicago. The day-long conference focuses on technology and the practice of law. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected to the list. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from various practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a rigorous multi-phased process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. Antoinette Choate will be presenting a one-hour contenting legal education seminar to NELA/Illinois (an association of lawyers who advocate for employee rights) on December 11, 2012. She will be discussing recent NLRB decisions involving social media and collective activity in both union and non-union settings. On Tuesday, April 3, at 7 p.m., Antoinette Choate addressed an audience at Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Avenue. On Thursday, April 12, at 6:30-7:30 p.m. she will speak to an audience at Woodson Regional Library, 9525 S. Halsted Street. Her final presendation for the series will be on Monday, April 16 at 12:15 p.m. at Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State Street. February 20, 2012 - Antoinette Choate presented opening remarks at NELA-Illinois's Tenth Annual Seventh Circuit Conference on Trial Practice for the Platiniff's Employment Lawyer at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Later that day, she also moderated the ethics panel which discussed various ethical issues arising from trial practice. The panel addressed many of the applicable rules as well as best practices given those rules. Specifically the panel looked at interactions with jurors and potential jurors, protecting client confidences, and other topics.
